PROJECT INTRODUCTION

Formula 1’s successful debut in the Middle East at Bahrain paved the way to firmly cement Middle East venues on the motorsport calendar.  ESSURA have contributed to the success of several events across the UAE, including Bahrain and Abu Dhabi where we provided Crisis Management and Command and Control services alongside more traditional Security Consultancy Services.

CHALLENGES

As relatively new events on the annual racing calendar it was imperative that the lessons learned at other global locations were applied and delivered results first time to ensure safe, secure and successful events.

SOLUTION

ESSURA deployed seasoned professionals with extensive crisis management experience and skillsets. Our work included advance reconnaissance to review current provision for Command and Control, Solution Integration, and Crisis Management before making strategic recommendations for improvements to efficiency and safety of the events. At Yas Island Circuit, Abu Dhabi, we undertook a thorough Threat, Vulnerability and Risk Assessment to develop a Concept of Operations. This informed the operator’s Safety and Security policy which in turn guided the development of policy, plans and procedures. Our scope finally broadened to include crowd management to ensure the safe operation of grandstands and public areas. We also undertook the role of Chief Emergency Coordinator in Race Control.
