PROJECT INTRODUCTION

The London and wider UK Surveillance System is an integrated network of fixed and mobile surveillance devices that continuously monitor activity on the UK’s road network.  Developed in response to the ambition to “deny criminals the use of the road” it comprises not only CCTV but also a sophisticated back office capable of processing the vast amount of data collected by the system every day.

ESSURA (as Olive Group) were contracted by the Metropolitan Police Service to provide strategic advisory, design and project management services to develop and implement the national system.

CHALLENGES

Integration of legacy and new equipment coupled with large scale infrastructure implementation contracts provided just two of many unique challenges for this ambitious project.

SOLUTION

ESSURA’s solution involved the deployment of new CCTV cameras alongside integration of existing cameras and other monitoring solutions to collect, analyse, process and store (where appropriate) activity on the nation’s roads at both a local and national level. In London the fixed system focused on the need to protect more sensitive areas comprising government buildings, diplomatic areas, financial/economic centres, and major entertainment venues. We also developed a mobile solution that was capable of overt and / or covert deployment to monitor specific events.

BENEFITS

Through utilising the existing surveillance estate and supplementing it with strategically located new equipment ESSURA were able to optimise coverage of the highway network providing unrivalled advanced monitoring capability for Police Forces and other agencies across the UK.

RIYADH GOVERNMENT DISTRICT MASTERPLAN

The development comprised 1 million square metres of brownfield site to create a new business park in Riyadh. Host to 10 government authorities, hotel, conference facilities, retail units and food and beverage outlets this mixed-use development aimed to offer a lively urban environment.

ROSHN JEDDAH TOWNSHIP, KSA

ESSURA were appointed by AECOM to undertake Security Master Planning, Strategic Advisory Services and Security Threat, Vulnerability and Risk Assessment for ROSHN’s Jeddah North Township.
