PROJECT INTRODUCTION

Ras Laffan Port (part of the Ras Laffan Industrial City) is the world’s largest artificial harbour and houses the world’s largest liquefied natural gas export facility.

ESSURA were contracted by Qatar Petroleum on several occasions to contribute to the expansion and development of the port facility including the provision of an Integrated Security System. The objective of the project was to enhance security across new LNG berths, liquid cargo berths, dry docks, and repair yards amid increasing cargo volumes.

CHALLENGES

The challenges included safeguarding a large, busy port with extensive cargo handling, requiring advanced detection and monitoring systems to prevent unauthorised access and ensure safety.

SOLUTION

ESSURA delivered a comprehensive security system comprising access control, fence intrusion detection, surveillance cameras, X-ray and radiation monitoring systems, container identification portals with OCR and ANPR, metal detection, baggage scanning, LRAD systems, and centralised traffic monitoring.

Our solution ensured enhanced security, efficient cargo handling, and streamlined operations. The advanced technologies integrated into the C4i control rooms provided real-time monitoring and intelligent access regulation, significantly improving the port's safety and operational efficiency.

To meet the Kuwaiti oil industry’s need for a standardised training program, Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) approached ESSURA to develop, deliver, and administer a 12-month comprehensive training package.

Our client, a large multinational oil and gas company, manages hydrocarbon exploration and production on the West Qurna-2 field in Southern Iraq. The project achieved first oil production in March 2014 and has seen significant growth, producing over 400,000 bpd with plans to double this capacity through expansion. Lukoil wanted to introduce a comprehensive training matrix to minimise safety risks.

KPC – GENERAL HSE TRAINING, KURDISTAN

KPC, a joint venture of RN Middle East Pte. Ltd. and KAR Pipelines Ltd., was established in 2017 to manage and operate the export pipeline in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq for 20 years, under a Concession Agreement with the Kurdistan Regional Government.
