PROJECT INTRODUCTION

Dubai Harbour is a world-class maritime destination with a 700 berth capacity for luxury yachts.  The Harbour Master Building is the central point of Dubai Harbour and features a mixture of retail, hotels, cafes and restaurants and various administrative functions.  With its striking architecture and iconic roof structure the building is a destination in its own right. 

ESSURA was appointed to provide specialist security consultancy for the Dubai Harbour Master Building covering the safety and security of the Dubai Harbour Cruise Terminal Port activities, focusing on port access regulation and navigation within the terminal port area.

CHALLENGES

The building design needed to be flexible, open, robust and capable of adapting to varying threat levels at any time. We were tasked with developing an appropriate design that met the various regulatory requirements whilst ensuring the architectural intent and spirit of the building was not compromised.

SOLUTION

In developing our solution ESSURA undertook full project lifecycle security consultancy services from an initial Security Threat, Vulnerability and Risk Assessment through Design (Concept, Schematic and Detailed) to Tender and Construction Documentation development and finally Tender Support.

BENEFITS

Through our comprehensive review ESSURA identified numerous specific risk scenarios - a handful of which were classified as medium risk. In particular we identified the need for greater consideration to the management of traffic around the site and designed mitigation measures to improve safety and security adopting an approach that was sympathetic to the overall aesthetics of the facility.

The development comprised 1 million square metres of brownfield site to create a new business park in Riyadh. Host to 10 government authorities, hotel, conference facilities, retail units and food and beverage outlets this mixed-use development aimed to offer a lively urban environment.
