PROJECT INTRODUCTION

Dubai Harbour Cruise Terminal is the region’s most advanced and is capable of accommodating the largest of the world’s cruise ships.  The iconic waterfront destination covers 120,000m2, has two operational cruise terminals and contains a wide range of entertainment, retail and leisure facilities.

ESSURA were engaged to provide specialist, full project lifecycle, security consultancy for the design of the cruise terminal.

CHALLENGES

As a global destination the terminal needed to comply with international regulations and codes including the International Ship and Port Facility Security Code (ISPS).

SOLUTION

Our scope covered an initial Security, Threat, Vulnerability and Risk Assessment through Concept, Schematic and Detailed Design to the preparation of Tender and Construction Documentation and finally Tender Support. Through a collaborative approach our design contributed to ensuring security was considered from the very earliest of stages and that the terminal was configured and designed with the needs of all stakeholders in mind including the police, customs and immigration.

BENEFITS

ESSURA’s deployment of suitably qualified and extensively experienced security professionals ensured regulatory compliance with both ISPS and the requirements of all national security regulators and agencies as well as the cruise lines themselves.

The development comprised 1 million square metres of brownfield site to create a new business park in Riyadh. Host to 10 government authorities, hotel, conference facilities, retail units and food and beverage outlets this mixed-use development aimed to offer a lively urban environment.
